Demolition of Expo Centre at Dubai International Airport.
Faced with a very tight programme Diamond Edge Cutting successfully completed the controlled demolition of the Dubai Airport Expo Complex and Royal Pavilion two days ahead of schedule including the controlled demolition ofan additional building which was not part of the original scope of works.
The project consisted of the controlled demolition of 15 individual 2 and 3 storey buildings each with a footprint of approximately 450m2.In order to achieve the programme milestones Diamond Edge Cutting’s team of extremely skilled operatives used fourCaterpillar Excavators, twoloading shovels, one 25,000 litre water tankerand a fleet of tipper trucks consisting of 8 number 20m3 and 4 number 30m3 trucks. So that productivity could be maximised the excavators were used to demolish the buildings and stock pile the debris during the day while the loading shovels and trucks were used to remove the debris at night. Water was continually sprayed on the working area to avoid dust being a nuisance to both the airport and the Expo’s neighbours.
Despite having to carry out a very complex demolition contract the project was completed with no disruption to the workings of the airport and without a single accident or incident. Diamond Edge Cutting is proud of its safety record which is second to none.
