Remove 5 bridges spanning a canal in one week, no problem to Diamond Edge Cutting.
The project consisted of the removal of 3 number single span steel hump back bridges with a concrete deck spanning 15m, each weighing approximately 45 tons and 2 number double  span steel bridges with a concrete deck spanning 31m, each weighing approximately 113 tons.

The Solution, initially the canal was drained of water and a temporary ramp was constructed into the canal at one end. Then using a Brokk 160 robotic demolition machine the concrete deckswere broken off the bridges to reduce the weight of the bridges. As the canal was constructed over a two story basement carpark the base of the canal was backed propped from below and a 200 ton mobile crane was positioned on the floor of the canal. A complete hump back bridge was then suspended from the crane, the holding down bolts cut and the bridge lifted out in one complete section and placed on the floor of the canal behind the crane. The double span bridges were removed in a similar manner taking one span at a time. Once the sections were placed on the floor of the canal a cutting crew immediately set to work cutting the bridge sections into smaller pieces so that they could be transported off site.
